The series of lectures will provide participants with basic orientation in the strategies of the State of Israel vis-a-vis its support of innovation and start-ups. They will get both theoretical as well as practical perspectives from leading Israeli scholars and entrepreneurs.
The lecture series is organized by Department of International Relations and European Studies, Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University. The series will consist of twelve 100 minute lectures and discussion sessions and one workshop. Majority of lectures will take place within three weeks.

Dr. Eitan Adres served as a pilot in the Israeli Air Force and for many years served as chief executive officer of leading steel companies with intensive international business activities.
At present he is involved in High-Tech start-ups and in promoting entrepreneurship of small and medium businesses. All these along with extensive civil society leadership related mainly to education and social mobility.
His research focuses on globalization consequences for citizen/state relationships at the Division of Public Administration and Policy, School of Political Sciences, University of Haifa, and as a fellow Senior Researcher at the Samuel Neaman Institute for National Policy Research in the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. Dr. He lectures on globalization, business management and negotiation.
He has published in Armed Forces & Society and Public Administration Review (PAR) and participates in policymaking proposals for economic development in northern Israel and conscription models.

Avner Barnea is teaching competitive intelligence in various MBA programs in Israel including the Netanya Academic College, Ono Academic College, and the Western Galilee Academic College and is also a strategic Competitive Intelligence consultant to large corporations in Israel.

Between 2007 - 2010, he served as CEO of "Harel Finance" and as a director in its subsidiaries, and between 2010 - 2016 as a CEO of "Harel investment in Insurance & Finance", chairman of "Harel Finance", "Harel Pia" and "E.M.I.- mortgage insurance". Since 2016, he is also chairman and managing partner at "Fuse Group" real estate Private lender, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.
He earned his MA in Economics at Haifa University and Techniyon in 1997 and his PHD in Business Administration at Haifa University in 2015. He published several papers on investment and role of emotions in business.

Peter Kolesár has assumed the position of CEO of Neulogy on May 9, 2016. Previously, he has worked for the company as Chief Strategy Officer.
Over the last four years, Peter Kolesár served as the Trade and Innovation Counselor at Slovak embassies in Washington, D.C. and Tel Aviv. Prior to this, he had worked as a Senior Consultant at Candole Partners, a CEE public policy and regulatory consulting firm.
Peter holds a Master degree in international relations from the Central European University in Budapest and Masaryk University in Brno. He was a scholar at Bard College, New York.

Vojtech Krmicek is working on bringing an entrepreneurship education to high schools and to universities in Czech Republic, supporting young entrepreneurs and new spinoff university companies and promoting entrepreneurial spirit in the region.
Previously he worked as a researcher at CESNET and Masaryk university, in the area of ICT security and monitoring of high-speed computer networks, where he also got his PhD.

Daniel Porat served in key management positions at Makhteshim Agan Industries Ltd. the world's largest generic crop protection company (renamed in 2014 ADAMA Agricultural Solutions Ltd.).
Between 1986-1991 and 1994-1998 he was Vice President Sales and Marketing, between 1991-1994 he was founder, President and CEO of Makhteshim-Agan of North America, between 1998-2006 Chief Operating Officer and between 2006-2008 Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. During the years 1996-2007 he led the acquisition of over 25 companies and product lines for the company which contributed substantially to its rapid growth.
He has invested in several Israeli ventures in some of which he also served as Chairman of the Board. These include AcousticEye and Sensomatix. In 2005 he and his team of investors purchased 50% of Aromor Flavors & Fragrances where he served as chairman of the board between 2008-2014. In 2014 he led the sale of the company to IFF a worldwide leader in the flavor and fragrance industry. He also founded Lemiro Investments Ltd. which provides consulting and invests in Israeli startup companies in 2008.
Mr. Porat holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Physics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1971), and a Master's degrees in both Organic Chemistry from the Hebrew University (1973), and Business Administration from Tel-Aviv University (1977). He is also serving as President of the Israeli Chess Federation.

Professor Sheizaf Rafaeli (B.A., Haifa University, M.A. OhioState University, M.A., Ph.D., Stanford University) is Founding Director of the the Center for Internet Research (InfoSoc, the Center for the Study of the Information Society) (1998 -present), and former Head of the Graduate School ofManagement (2005-2011), University of Haifa Israel.
He leads the "Serious Games for Executives" project, and serves as Director in a series of public interest organizations and as a member of several Editorial Boards. He is co-PI and member ofthe Academic Management of the ICORE LINKS Center of Excellence for research on Learning in the Age of Information.
Previously, he served as head of the Information Systems area atthe GSB in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, since 1986.
His interests are in computers as media. He has published on this topic in many top peer-reviewed journals, as well as in various media. Prof. Rafaeli has served in visiting research and teaching positions at Ohio State University, Michigan State University, IBM, StanfordUniversity, Technion, Israeli College of Management, and the University of Michigan.

Dana R. Vashdi is head of the division of Public Administration and Policy in The University of Haifa, Israel. Dana earned her Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology from the Technion - the Israel Institute of Technology and did her post doc at the Cornell ILR School.
Dana’s research focuses on teamwork and team innovation as well as employee well-being, organizational climate and healthcare policy. Her expertise include enhancing learning in different types of teams - helping teams learn how to better learn and how to be innovative. She has published in numerous academic journals. She teaches executives, undergraduates, master's students, and Ph.D. students.
She has worked with teams in many organizational settings in order to help them improve their effectiveness such as air-force teams, hospital teams and high-tech teams.

Eran Wagner joined Gemini in 2011 as General Partner. His areas of investment focus include enterprise software, telecommunications and security; he also shows keen interest in the juncture of sensor networks, robotics and real-world applications. Prior to Gemini, Eran served as the President of North American Operations at cVidya Networks where he built the company's business throughout the continent. Eran holds a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tel Aviv University and is a serial inventor with multiple granted patents. He is a co-founder of both the IEFF (Israeli Entrepreneurs and Founders Forum) in the Silicon Valley and the Israel Conference (www.theisraelconference.org) in Los Angeles and is an active fellow of the Aspen Institute.

Lyron has years of experience in various high-level management and R&D positions. To date, Lyron is in process of founding a FinTech startup leveraging artificial intelligence to build a robo-analyst, and serves as FinTech lecturer at NYU & IDC.
He established and headed Citi Technology Innovation Center in Israel till 2016. Opened in 2011, by 2016, the center employs ~200 people developing applications for Citi Institutional Bank, Information Security and Compliance. The center specialized in data & analytics among other areas. Lyron initiated Citi’s first acceleration program globally, in Israel. The accelerator was elected as one of the best in the country.
Before joining Citi, he served as R&D director at SuperDerivatives(sold to ICE for $350M) , a global leader in cloud based market data, derivatives trading technology and analytics.
He earned a M.Sc. and a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the Technion, the Israeli institute of technology as well as a B.A in Business Management and in International Relations from the Hebrew University.
